Volkswagen first introduced the Golf in 1974. They then changed the Automotive landscape 2 years later in 1976 with the MK1 Golf GTI. The definitive hot hatch, responsible for spawning some of the most iconic cars ever to grace the roads. Since then, the link between VW and hot hatches has been constant with each generation having its own GTI version. Then with the MK3 the VR6 was launched, something even hotter than the GTI. This experiment was such a success that for the MK4 Volkswagen decided to push the envelope even further. 

 

The MK4 was put on sale in late 1997 and for the turn of the century Volkswagen had a new hot version ready to be released. The V6 4 Motion was introduced in January 2000 to sit in the performance ranking above the GTI. The car was fitted with the trademark 2.8 litre V6 engine producing 204 BHP as well as the legendary VW Haldex 4-wheel drive system and a 6-speed manual Gearbox. All of this pedigree combined produced a car that was capable of hitting 0-60 in just 6.9 seconds. It was thanks to the popularity of the V6 4 Motion that in 2002 Volkswagen evolved the car into the infamous R32 with a more powerful 3.2 litre V6. The two cars remained in production simultaneously for the remaining production run of the MK4.

 

The car we have on offer is a low mileage example having covered just the 58,000 miles since it was first registered in September 2000, also making it an early V6. Supplied new to the Channel Islands the car has had 2 previous owners with 13 stamps in the original service book showing the car has been meticulously maintained.

 

Our car is finished in Reflex Silver Metallic, arguably the quintessential colour for this generation of Golf. It is also equipped with the optional boot spoiler and Headlamp Washers as well as ‘Brands Hatch’ Alloy Wheels, ordered new in Black, and the twin tailpipe exhaust, both V6 standards. V6 badges adorn the front grille and boot where there is also a 4 Motion badge, 2.8L badges are to be found on each wing. The paintwork is in pleasing condition and shows the car in all its glory, there are some minor scratches as is to be expected with a car of this age, however, it is in very good original condition.

 

Sports seats and 4 Motion Gear Knob come as standard with the V6 but the optional full leather upholstery has been selected and is finished in Black. The interior is in impressive condition showing the cars originality and is still with the factory Volkswagen floor mats.

 

Included with the car is the complete original handbook pack, the Volkswagen tool kit, an unused spare tyre, First aid kit and warning Triangle.

 

All import duties have been paid and is ready to be registered into the name of the first UK mainland owner and will be supplied with a full 12 Month MOT.
